I have to disagree that the music is fluff. To me, a person who does everything by flavour, I believe music at the start of a podcast can get a person in the right mood. It all depends on what the podcast is about. For example, I chose Let the Bodies Hit the Floor for my tournament report because that entire tournament were table sweeps in every round, or 3 and 1 near sweeps. Thematically, and flavourwise, the song fit the podcast and in theory I wanted it to help get people in the mood for what is to come.
I would have had music for my first edition of Captain's Corner but alas I had to cut it because hotmail will only let me send a 10mb attachment.
Keep in mind that this is not bashing your statement what-so-ever. I think the critique is valid. I am just playing devil's advocate. Keep every and all comments coming.

You have ~30 seconds to capture visitors attention.
If you eat up that entire time with music, you lose your audience.
I have never listened to more than 1 minute of any of your audio blogs, as my attention has not been grabbed and there hasn't been any content worth hearing in the first minute.
Raise your standards.

I don't agree with your statement that we only have 30 seconds for any listener, but I do agree that the intro music is definitely unnecessary. Our standards are quite high and the only reason for this intro music was to increase the "production value" of the cast. I realize now that the casts need to stand on their own and be judged by their content and not by the need that i felt to fit the mold of a traditional audio format. I am trying to break this mold and by getting down to the nitty and the gritty, the meat and potatoes of the content with out all of the fluff just might be what we need. Let me know if there is anything else that you feel needs changing, I do not guarantee that we will even entertain your comments for a second, but I read everything.
